First JODDAS VAPD Strip: Select Your Fighter

Vanilla is based on a girl who had a crush on me back in middle school. I thought she was very cute, but dating wasn’t a thing at the time of our age. She was a very good friend, and I feel bad that I can’t recall her real name. Although Vanilla never came out into JODDAS VAPD until Life Stinks.

In the Life Sucks stage I had a side idea of creating an adventure story. I never created anything but some concept arts.

Aino a character that carried a sword much like Cloud Strifes from Final Fantasy VII she had the powers to use the elements (much like Avatar the last Airbender, but it was only coincidence at that time) This design helped to make Vanilla in Life Stinks

Life Stinks Vanilla is when I put that girl from Middle School into her character. Vanilla was very introvert and shy in that stage. She had an obvious crush on Dan at the time and almost very little comic strips with her were ever humorous.

Vanilla kept reserved and always wore a thick jacket. She had a hard time talking with others especially Dan at the time.

Later on I wanted Vanilla to have a much broader personality and a new design that closely relates to her design today.

Vanilla has always been a favorite for me to draw, and smiling Vanilla is by far my favorite to draw. The reason I didn’t decide to use Vanilla as a base for my girlfriend is because I didn’t feel it appropriate to do so. Vanilla was already based on someone else in my life and I felt it better that Ophelia be an appropriate body for my girlfriend as she already had no soul basically.

Vanilla may seem like a valley girl, but that cannot be any further from the truth. She’s actually a very smart girl with a smile that can shine up an entire room. She has a hard time finding love, but she’s smart enough to know where to find it. She enjoys singing, but finds it difficult to do so in front of others besides her friends. Vanilla finds it most comfortable when surrounded by her friends.
